First-Ever Diesel Plug-In Hybrid is the Volvo V60

Bringing together a whole slew of automotive innovations, Volvo has announced that its new V60 will be the first-ever diesel plug-in hybrid. It's more than just an impressive title that turns heads towards the model though. From charge time to exterior design, the Volvo V60 is a green-force to be reckoned with.

To be fair, Peugeot was the first to bring a diesel hybrid to life. However, Volvo makes it a plug-in. And in the consumer world, that can make all the difference. Thanks to its electric capabilities, owners of the V60 will be able to juice up in a matter of 3.5 hours using a 16-amp line. Furthering the model's convenience offerings, drivers can opt to use three different drive modes on the road.

-          Pure: relies heavily on electric
-          Hybrid: utilizes diesel and electric equally
-          Power: taps into a full 285-hp and 362-lb./ft. of torque

Speaking of power, the V60 laughs in the face of those who equate hybrid with weak performance. Operating on a 215-hp, five-cylinder, 2.4-liter diesel engine and 70-hp electric motor, the model can kick up to 60-mph in under 7 seconds. Wimpy and weak? Absolutely not.

Adding class and cutting-edge design to power delivery, the production model Volvo V60 will be offered in Electric Silver and "graced with a distinctive profile featuring...an exclusive interior and generous standard equipment."1

If you're as elated about the V60 as we are then we have a feeling you'll also enjoy our extensive lineup of new Volvo models at Jaffarian Volvo, 600 River Street Haverhill, MA 01832. Feel free to contact us online or swing by in person and take one for a spin.
